It’s a question we get a lot. And because we believe in supply chain transparency, we want to take a moment to address it head-on. 

MycoFi mushroom extracts come all the way from China, and a lot of people want to know why. But there’s a really simple answer: that’s where the best cultivated mushrooms come from.

China has been cultivating mushrooms since the 12th century -- in fact, it’s where mushroom cultivation began. The climate and culture have created the perfect environment for growing mushrooms of all sorts-- from culinary to medicinal. 

And generations of growers have developed and perfected natural growing techniques that reliably result in the most potent, robust mushrooms. Today, China produces 85% of the world’s cultivated mushrooms. 

But what we really want you to know is…

We Take Quality and Safety Seriously

Our mushroom extract supplier is Canadian company that has been in the business for 20+ years and is considered an industry leader for product safety, quality, and integrity. 

They work with small farmers who use organic growing methods and understand the needs of each species - providing pure water from deep wells, natural sunlight, shade, and a constant flow of fresh air. And native hardwoods or protein-enriched sawdust are used as the food base. Under these conditions, growers produce some of the highest-quality mushrooms available anywhere. 

All processing is done in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certified facilities using ultra-purified water. Every step of the extraction process is closely monitored to ensure adherence to an established set of criteria for maximum safety and quality.

Lab Tested. Again and Again.

Before leaving China, all mushroom products undergo rigorous testing for bacteria, yeast and mold, e.coli, and coliforms. Finally, pesticide testing that exceeds the standards set forth by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) organization is also conducted, along with a heavy metal analysis.

Once the products make it to North America, they are tested for all those same things again-- plus some new ones:

  • Beta-glucan testing to ensure the presence of active compounds
  • Ergosterol testing to ensure fungal purity
  • Alpha-glucan testing to guard against contaminants 

As you can see, we’re pretty serious about using the safest, highest quality mushrooms available.
